Pro-Tools Mixing

The Pro Tools platform is the gold standard in the music and audio industries, and for good reason. In the hands of an experienced engineer, Pro Tools offers the power and flexibility to ensure your project reaches its fullest potential.

Track Mastering

Once your mix is ready, a mastering engineer will use their years of experience to bring out the nuanced richness and character hidden within. Hear the difference that can truly set your music apart from the crowd.

You put a great deal of passion into your music. You've spent countless hours lovingly crafting each note, each word, until you're completely satisfied with the result. We agree that content is king, however polishing is no gimmick. It's no secret that in this era of technology, listening options have increased exponentially. Listeners have become familiar with poor quality.

Album Post Production

During our album post-production process, we'll normalize volume levels across the disc, set track markers, add any desired crossfades and effects, set up ID Tags, and get your project ready for online distribution. If you plan to press your album, we'll also provide a master disc image that's optimized and ready for CD replication.

Voice Over (Radio/Video)

Bring out the natural harmonies and unique qualities of any voice through our professional voice over editing and mastering techniques. We'll also remove any noise or artifacts caused during recording and get your project ready for any medium.

The necessity of mixing and mastering.

Because there is such a wide range of listening options available to consumers, from high definition theater speakers to lowly earbuds, it's impossible to predict how fans will listen to your music. A mix that sounds great on one set of speakers may sound terrible on another, and your artistic vision can quickly become blurred. Mixing and mastering solve this problem by taking advantage of studio reference monitors, as well as a talented set of ears, to create a mix that is well-balanced and designed to sound its best no matter where it's played.

Process

Mixing a project begins by analyzing each track individually. Volume levels are adjusted to ensure that everything is audible, while nothing is loud enough to dominate the mix. Clipping and background noise issues, if present, are corrected. Each track is then equalized, the process by which individual frequency ranges are adjusted to perfect the character of the audio.

A good engineer treats a mix as a three dimensional sonic space, using a variety of other tools to manipulate and move tracks within this space. Tracks can be moved forward and backward, side to side, and even up and down within a mix. Not only does this allow each instrument to have its own space, it also creates a more interesting and dynamic song. Reverb is also judiciously used to add subtle fullness and depth to a track. Recording issues can be corrected at the mixing stage as well. Flat sounding drums can be brought to life, a muddled bassline can be cleaned up and sharpened, the character and bite of a guitar can be accented, and an otherwise lifeless mix can be made dynamic and exciting.

In the absence of proper mixing and mastering,
the rest of the world may not discover your music at its best.
